Nationally recognized
artist Carolyn Hesse-Low graduated from University of California, Santa
Barbara, and continued her training at Art Center College of Design in
Pasadena. In the style of the early California Impressionists, her
plein air landscapes, figures and marine subjects capture the changing
mood and rugged beauty of what she sees. "I am attracted to the feeling that a scene offers. What appeals to me is a subject that has depth to explore, one that can reveal the feelings within ourselves."
Carolyn’s paintings have been exhibited at the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club in
New York; Laguna Art Museum, Pasadena Museum of California Art,
Napa Valley Museum, Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, Arizona-Sonora
Desert Museum, Water Mill Museum, Academy of Art Museum, Coos Art Museum, Bonita Museum, Wisconsin Maritime Museum, Minnesota Marine Art Museum, San Diego Maritime Museum and Ventura County Maritime Museum. Her
work has been shown in numerous national exhibitions, and she has been
selected to paint in plein air invitational and juried events throughout the West.
Featured in Southwest Art Magazine, her work also appears in the book Land of Sunlight: Paintings of San Diego County, as well as in Plein Air New Mexico. Her work has received numerous awards, including Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine's Publisher's Choice Award.
Carolyn Hesse-Low is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists, the National Watercolor Society, the American Impressionist Society, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, the National Oil and Acrylic
Painters Society, and the Catharine
Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She is an Artist Member of the California Art
Club. Her work is represented in national and international collections.
